Shailene Woodley is an American actress and activist. Her popularity was boosted by her performance as Alexandra "Alex" King, a teenager suffering from drug addiction, as seen in The Descendants. After her stellar performance on The Descendants she went on to take on other roles that showed her versatility. Shailene managed to get a prominent place in the world of film early in her career which is a feat in and of itself. When she began her career, she was working on television shows and commercials her next step was to take on important parts in Hollywood films. Thanks to her acting skills, she has won many awards, including MTV Movie Awards, People's Choice Awards as well as Teen Choice Awards.
